DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut 1 roof and 1 house base from your choice of fabrics. Sew roof to house, right sides together, using 1/4” seam allowance. Press seam allowance towards the darker fabric.
2. Cut out windows and door. Either pin or fuse in place. Stitch by machine or hand applique to the house. Add decorative stitches, if desired, around the windows, above the door, on the roof, etc.
3. Place house front onto backing fabric as a template for cutting backing piece. Either mark backing fabric, then cut, or carefully cut around front piece.
4. Cut a 10“ piece of ribbon or cord for the hanger. Tack the ends at the top of the roof, with the loop hanging down onto the house.
5. Pin the front and back pieces right sides together, being careful to keep the ribbon in the center, away from the seams. Stitch around the perimeter, leaving a 2.5” hole for turning and stuffing on the side or bottom.
6. Turn right sides out and press. Stuff as firmly as desired. Sew opening closed with a whip stitch or ladder stitch.

I came over from Nanette's blog. Your little Nordic house ornaments are so cute and I plan to make a couple of them for my tree. I'll call them little Danish houses here because my hubby has Danish heritage. His dad came from Denmark around 1911 and we visited his homeplace a couple of times during trips to Europe years ago. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks so much!! I can't wait to try these dear little houses!!
I've spent the last three hours searching for a perfect Christmas sewing project for a snowy day in New England and found these. They're wonderful!
This looks so nice -I love red and white - hope to have time to do some! ;) Thanks for the pattern!
