Garter Tab

This is a photo tutorial I quickly put together of knitting a garter tab for a shawl. Sometimes I use a provisional cast on and many times I don't.  In this tutorial, I did not use a provisional cast on.  I hope this will help those new to knitting a garter tab. I'm planning to update this tutorial with photos of chunkier yarn. Remember: click each photo to see a full size image.
